Archive output produced by Elixir Opus, other printstreams, and documents
from all sources to Elixir Blue Ocean
Most of a company’s documents represent transactions between the company and its customers. Documents are the tangible representation of business relationships, and they are enormously valuable. When a document has served its initial business function, it next becomes part of the company’s retained records archive, where it can be used for reprinting, customer support, datamining, marketing analysis, evidence in lawsuits, and many other uses.
As the largest producer of documents in your company, you play a big role in facilitating the “second life” of transactional documents. In addition to generating documents with Opus, you may manage legacy line-of-business programs that generate millions of pages of AFP or metacode, and your company generates lots of Microsoft® Office® documents and countless e-mail messages. Opus ` accepts them all, indexing everything, storing it all securely, and waiting to deliver information on request at blindingly fast speed.
More than a passive repository, Blue Ocean is a revolutionary database that can serve other applications—and other archive systems—handling the mountains of retained records and delivering them programmatically as required.

Fast, scalable, flexible, and cost-effective
Elixir accepts a wide range of documents, including all types of printstreams and can load files quickly and find them with great speed. Best of all, the Opus and Blue Ocean solution is a low-maintenance program that does not require a team in lab coats to manage it. And you can deploy Blue Ocean in hours or days—not in weeks or months.

Retrieve and view the original
The solution uses optional integrated Elixir transformation utilities to convert printstreams to Adobe® Acrobat® PDF files that appear identical to the printed versions. If Opus is generating the documents, Blue Ocean watches a directory and automatically ingests the documents as they are created. The documents are stored securely. These archived originals can be located, then printed, routed, annotated, saved, combined, or delivered to other programs.

Deploy quickly
Companies that want to automate their records retention procedures are eager to do so in the shortest time possible, especially when complying with federal, state, and securities regulations.
With traditional document archive systems, systems take weeks or months to deploy, and new user requirements often result in redesign the system. The steps in the process include obtaining and analyzing data; obtaining current user requirements; database design and modeling; system loading at the rate of hundreds of inserts per second; testing and training. The resulting structure is predetermined and static, and users can only search the database as it was designed to be searched.
